Optimal lung recruitment in acute respiratory distress syndrome remains controversial. Standard low and high positive end-expiratory pressure tables may not be superior to newer approaches such as driving pressure or electrical impedance tomography. While current guidelines discourage the use of aggressive recruitment maneuvers, is there still a role for this adjunct? This session will explore state-of-the-art approaches to these issues, including works in progress.
