The advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) guideline update was released in 2025 but not much has changed from previous versions. Most of the guideline recommendations are based on lower levels of evidence. This session will review the new ACLS guideline update and discuss the levels of evidence for management in the ACLS guideline and beyond.

Learning Objectives:

  • Review the 2025 advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) guidelines and the evidence for adjunct medications such as calcium and bicarbonate during ACLS
  • Discuss the evidence for epinephrine versus norepinephrine in patients with return of spontaneous circulation after ACLS
  • Analyze current trends and evidence in extracorporeal CPR
