Vaccination is one of the most effective public health measures for preventing infectious diseases, yet vaccine-preventable illnesses still account for a significant proportion of pediatric ICU admissions. Understanding the link between immunization and critical care can help inform vaccine policy, parental education, and hospital preparedness. This session will explore the importance of childhood immunization in reducing ICU burden. Speakers, who are experts in pediatric critical care, infectious diseases, and vaccine science, will discuss the latest evidence on vaccine efficacy, real-world data on ICU admissions due to vaccine-preventable diseases, and challenges in vaccine uptake. Speakers will also explore whether certain vaccines should be prioritized in specific populations and how critical care teams can contribute to public health vaccination efforts.
