Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, New Jersey
Dr. Rachel L. Choron is an Associate Professor of Surgery and the Medical Director of the Shock Trauma Intensive Care Unit at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, NJ. She also serves as the Program Director of the Surgical Critical Care Fellowship and Director of the Rutgers Acute Care Surgery Research (RASR) Lab, where she mentors students, residents, and fellows in clinical and translational research. She serves SCCM as a member of the MCCKAP committee and as a member of the surgery section's steering and education committees.
As a trauma surgeon and surgical intensivist, Dr. Choron is dual board certified in general surgery and surgical critical care. She has built her career around advancing evidence-based practices in the management of critically ill and injured patients. Her research focuses on hemorrhagic and septic shock, clinical outcomes in traumatically injured patients, duodenal injuries, and the care of firearm injury survivors.
