Sandeep Nathan, MD, MSc is a Professor of Medicine at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine and is full-time faculty at the University of Chicago Medical Center where he also serves as the Medical Director of the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, the Co-Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and Director of the Interventional Cardiology Fellowship Program
Dr. Nathan earned his undergraduate degree from Boston University and his medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine through a combined BA/MD Program. He completed his internal medicine residency training at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and his fellowship in Cardiovascular Medicine and Interventional Cardiology at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL. Following his subspecialty fellowship training, he earned a Master of Science degree in Clinical Research through an NIH K-30 funded program administered by the Rush Graduate College, with a focus on clinical trial design.
He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (ACC) and the Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI). He has served as an investigator for numerous sponsored, investigator-initiated and NIH-funded studies and registries. He has co-authored over 150 original scientific manuscripts, review articles, scientific communications and textbook chapters in the areas of acute coronary syndromes and acute myocardial infarction, platelet inhibition and vascular thrombosis, percutaneous coronary intervention, mechanical circulatory support and cardiogenic shock. He has been in practice for over 20 years with clinical focus on complex coronary and peripheral intervention, transradial intervention, transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), pulmonary embolism therapies as well as mechanical circulatory support in complex PCI, cardiogenic shock and heart failure. He currently serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal of the Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (JSCAI) and is serving a 3-year term as Chairperson for the SCAI SHOCK meeting.
