Richard J. Kozak, M.D., FACEP, is an emergency physician and Assistant Adjunct Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of California, Irvine. A Diplomate of the American Board of Emergency Medicine, he has served Providence Mission Hospital since 1997 in clinical, academic, and leadership roles, including Chief of Staff, Credentials Committee Chair, and Research Director. His scholarship focuses on point-of-care electroencephalography, non-convulsive seizure detection, traumatic brain injury, and prehospital systems of care. A former FEMA/NDMS medical officer and long-time paramedic base medical director, Dr. Kozak has authored more than 25 peer-reviewed publications and is a multi-year Orange County “Physician of Excellence” awardee.
