Phoebe Gruccio is a third-year medical student at the University of Virginia School of Medicine with interests in critical care, emergency medicine, and global health. She completed her undergraduate education at Virginia Tech with a B.S. in Biochemistry and B.A. in Spanish. She is particularly interested in improving the inclusion of underrepresented populations in clinical research. Her current research is with the Division of Infectious Diseases and International Health, focusing on the characteristics and outcomes of sepsis in Africa. Her team works in collaboration with Mbarara University of Science and Technology in Uganda to help inform sepsis management in resource-limited settings.
