Texas Children's Hospital, Guatemala
My name is Nicole Knebusch, MSc. I am a dietitian based in Houston, Texas, originally from Guatemala, with advanced training in pediatric nutrition. I hold a Master’s degree in Pediatrics from Imperial College London, where I developed a strong foundation in clinical research and evidence-based care for vulnerable pediatric populations.
My research experience focuses on nutrition support and nutritional adequacy in critically ill children. I have worked on studies involving pediatric critical care populations, including children with biliary atresia following liver transplantation, as well as research on micronutrient status and optimization of nutrition therapy in complex clinical settings, such as organ dysfunction. My work emphasizes the role of individualized nutrition support in improving outcomes for critically ill pediatric patients.
I have conducted research at Texas Children’s Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to advance clinical nutrition practices and contribute to translational pediatric research. My academic interests lie at the intersection of pediatric critical care, clinical nutrition, and outcomes-based research.
I am currently continuing my academic training with the goal of beginning a Physician Assistant program in 2026, with the long-term aim of integrating clinical practice and research to improve pediatric health outcomes.
