Tahira West, MD, Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Fellow at Emory University - Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, is pursuing dual training in pediatric intensive care and palliative care. Her academic interests include qualitative research and system-level interventions that improve outcomes for critically ill children and their families. She is particularly focused on developing strategies that honor family values while enhancing communication between interdisciplinary teams and caregivers. Dr. West previously served as a Chief Resident, where she led debriefings and communication workshops to strengthen team performance and resilience. She also spearheaded restructuring of diversity, equity, and inclusion curricula, advancing service-wide initiatives that foster more inclusive and equitable care environments. Dr. West’s long-term vision is to integrate pediatric critical care and palliative expertise to build programs that support families during the most challenging moments of illness, while also mentoring future clinicians in equity-focused, holistic approaches to care. Through her leadership and scholarship, she is dedicated to advancing models of care that sustain both families and the professionals who serve them.
