DeAndra' Chambliss, DNP, APRN, AGACNP-BC, is an Assistant Professor for Graduate Studies in the Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Track at the University of Texas Medical Branch School of Nursing. Her journey in nursing began with a deeply personal experience that ignited a lifelong passion for the profession—one that now drives her commitment to educating the next generation of nursing professionals.
Dr. Chambliss is a proud three-time graduate of UTMB, having completed her RN-BSN in 2013, Master of Science in Nursing in 2019, and Doctor of Nursing Practice in April 2025. She has been honored with multiple scholarships, including the Anna K. Schelper School of Nursing Scholarship and the Edgar & Grace Gnitzinger Scholarship.
With over 13 years of clinical experience, Dr. Chambliss has dedicated her career to critical care nursing. She currently serves as a Nurse Practitioner on the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) at Houston Methodist Hospital-Willowbrook. Previously, she spent four years as a Critical Care Nurse Practitioner in the Medical/Surgical ICU at Memorial Hermann Hospital-Cypress, where she independently managed critically ill patients and performed complex invasive procedures. Her clinical background spans adult critical care, pediatric intensive care, trauma, and emergency response.
As an educator, Dr. Chambliss has precepted nurse practitioner students from multiple universities for over 735 hours of clinical experience. Her commitment to advancing nursing knowledge is reflected in her scholarly presentations at national conferences and her forthcoming publication in the Journal of Critical Care Medicine Supplement.
Dr. Chambliss is an active member of the Texas Nurse Practitioners Association, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses, and the Society of Critical Care Medicine.
