Karly Katchen is a pediatric resident at Cohen Children’s Medical Center in New Hyde Park, New York. Prior to beginning residency, Karly attended Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine (DO ’23). During medical school, Karly was involved in many mentoring and teaching opportunities, including leading basic science teaching sessions to incoming medical students and tutoring her medical student peers. Her interest in research developed during her undergraduate studies through the Department of Kinesiology at University of Wisconsin – Madison where she conducted research on the effects of aging and exercise on cerebral blood flow regulation and cognitive decline and subsequently published and presented the data at the national level. Her current research interests include topics surrounding critical illness in pediatric patients, specifically regarding the diagnosis and management of sepsis and septic shock. Following the completion of pediatric residency, Karly will be a chief resident and then is hoping to pursue a fellowship in critical care medicine.
