University of Illinois College of Medicine - Peoria, Illinois
Angelica Pacheco, MD, is a Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Fellow at OSF HealthCare Children’s Hospital of Illinois, where she is also completing a Medical Simulation Fellowship focused on high-fidelity clinical education, crisis resource management, and interdisciplinary team performance. She completed her pediatric residency at Maimonides Infants and Children’s Hospital in Brooklyn, NY, where she received the Outstanding PL-3 Peer Leadership Award and the Resident Recognition in Research Award.
Dr. Pacheco earned her medical degree from Universidad Nacional Experimental Francisco de Miranda in Venezuela. Her formative years as a physician in resource-limited environments—caring for critically ill children with minimal supplies—shaped her commitment to adaptability, clinical precision, and equitable care. These experiences deepened her dedication to pediatrics and inspired her pursuit of advanced training in critical care and simulation.
Her commitment to simulation is shaped by her early training in resource-limited settings, where gaps in exposure to realistic, high-stakes scenarios sparked her dedication to developing immersive, evidence-based educational experiences. She is particularly interested in using simulation to strengthen clinical decision-making, interdisciplinary communication, and learner confidence in critical situations.
Her academic interests also include health equity, social determinants of health, and pediatric trauma decision tools. She has presented research nationally, including at the Pediatric Academic Societies Meeting. Dr. Pacheco is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and is fluent in English and Spanish.
