Dr. Lizzo is an assistant professor in the Division of Critical Care in the Department of Anesthesiology at Washington University. She practices as an intensivist in the surgical ICUs in an academic setting at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and multiple community hospitals within the system both on the ground and in a telemedicine capacity.
Dr. Lizzo was born and raised in the Chicago suburbs. She attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for her undergraduate studies where she completed a BS in Molecular & Cellular Biology and began her journey into medicine as an EMT, volunteering in that capacity and teaching EMS courses. After finishing her undergraduate degree, she worked as a phlebotomist then completed a MA in Medical Sciences from Loyola University Chicago. She attended medical school and residency in Emergency Medicine at University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria before going on to complete critical care fellowship at the University of Iowa.
