Molly Vega, PhD, RDN, CSSD, LD, ACSM-EP, is a Clinical Dietitian at Texas Children’s Hospital and an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Division of Nephrology, Department of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine. Her work focuses on improving nutritional care, protein delivery, and muscle health in children with acute kidney injury (AKI) and those requiring continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT). Dr. Vega leads translational research aimed at characterizing metabolic stress, understanding drivers of muscle wasting, and advancing precision nutrition strategies during critical illness, using bedside assessment tools such as point-of-care ultrasounds. Beyond AKI and CRRT, her research interests include improving the identification and treatment of pediatric malnutrition, evaluating nutritional trajectories in hospitalized and chronically ill children, and examining how physical activity influences recovery, function, and long-term outcomes across acute and chronic medical conditions. She has authored abstracts and manuscripts in pediatric nephrology and critical care nephrology, and is committed to strengthening evidence-based, systems-level approaches that support optimal nutrition, movement, and survivorship in medically complex children.
