Emily Acker, BA, is a fourth-year medical student at the SUNY Downstate College of Medicine in Brooklyn, New York. She is interested in pediatrics and pediatric critical care, with a focus on the management of acute severe asthma in high-acuity settings and the impact of structural factors on child health. Her research, conducted under the supervision of Dr. Sule Doymaz, a pediatric critical care intensivist at SUNY Downstate, examines the use of intravenous magnesium sulfate in children admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit for acute severe asthma. She is passionate about integrating clinical research with equitable, patient-centered care and will be entering pediatrics residency following graduation.
