Shari Toomey, MBA, RRT-NPS, FCCM- Respiratory Manager, Carilion Rockbridge Community Hospital; has over 35 years of experience as a respiratory therapist. She completed her undergraduate studies in respiratory therapy and science through the US Army and the Academy of Health of Sciences (Certificate in Respiratory Care, Mary Baldwin University (BS Health Sciences with minor in Management), and graduate studies in healthcare management (MBA). Shari is currently the Respiratory manager for Carilion Rockbridge Community Hospital. She has been an active member of the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) since 2006 and has served on the Virginia Society for Respiratory Care (VSRC), volunteering for many committees and offices. She has been a clinician, supervisor, educator, and researcher, presenting nationwide along with published material.. Shari also serves on the Virginia Respiratory Advisory Board of Medicine. She was a contributing author for the 7th Edition FCCS Textbook and a co-editor for the new Edition PFCCS. Presently she is working on multiple committees within SCCM to provide information and develop guidelines for Heat injury and Illness and Environmental sustainability within Critical Care areas. Shari has been accepted into the Fellowship in the American College of Critical Care Medicine (ACCM). She also serves on the FCCS Program Committee within the Society of Critical Care.
