Svetlana Herasevich, MD, MSc is an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology in the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota. She is a physician–scientist specializing in implementation science at the intersection of critical care and digital health, dedicated to improving outcomes for hospitalized and critically ill patients.
Dr. Herasevich began her career as a primary care physician and later transitioned into pharmaceutical marketing. In 2018, her passion for science brought her to Mayo Clinic, where she earned a Master of Science in Clinical and Translational Science in 2022.
She serves as a co-investigator on NIH- and AHRQ-funded projects and is the author of more than 30 peer-reviewed publications. Her research focuses on developing and deploying innovative digital solutions to enhance early detection of patient deterioration and strengthen clinical decision-making. Current projects include optimizing the use of clinical information through advanced risk stratification methods and integrating real-time patient data to prevent critical illness in high-risk populations such as older adults and hematopoietic stem cell transplant recipients. She also leads efforts to evaluate large language models for clinical reasoning, workflow integration, and decision support in critical care.
An active member of SCCM, Dr. Herasevich is committed to advancing digital innovations and implementing decision support tools that can be effectively adopted into everyday clinical practice.
