Blake Martin M.D. is an Assistant Professor Pediatrics and Biomedical Informatics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. He is also a practicing pediatric intensivist at Children's Hospital Colorado. He received his B.A. in astrophysics from Princeton University and his medical degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine. He completed his pediatrics residency at the Boston Combined Residency Program (Boston Children's Hospital and Boston Medical Center) before moving back to his home state of Colorado to complete his fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine where he then stayed on as faculty.
His research interests include the application of machine learning and artificial intelligence-based tools to decision-making in high risk environments in the form of novel clinical decision support (CDS) tools. Specific ongoing projects include design and validation of predictive models able to identify critically ill and injured children with vs. without serious bacterial infection as well as related CDS in order to optimize antibiotic decision-making in the PICU.
