Anna Kalema, MD, is the Senior Inpatient Medical Director of Critical Care and an Associate Professor in the Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine Department at the University of Kentucky. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the University of South Carolina and her fellowship in Critical Care Medicine at the University of Kentucky. As a critical care physician, Dr. Kalema primarily works in the Medical Intensive Care Unit and the ICU Recovery Clinic. Her clinical and research expertise focuses on ICU survivorship, which emphasizes long-term, patient-centered outcomes following critical illness. She is passionate about understanding and improving the physical, emotional, and cognitive recovery of patients after hospital discharge.
