Dr. Ranjit Deshpande is an anesthesiologist and critical care physician at Yale School of Medicine, where he serves as Associate Professor and Vice Chair for Finance & Strategy in the Department of Anesthesiology. He also directs Liver Transplant Anesthesiology and the Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) program.
Trained in anesthesiology at the University of Miami and critical care at Johns Hopkins, Dr. Deshpande has led multiple transformative initiatives in perioperative care, ICU redesign, and ultrasound-guided clinical decision-making. He played a frontline leadership role during the COVID-19 pandemic, spearheading the conversion of perioperative spaces into critical care units and co-developing novel strategies for sharing ventilators.
Internationally recognized for his thought leadership in critical care, transplant anesthesiology, and POCUS education, Dr. Deshpande is a frequent invited speaker and faculty member at major global meetings. He currently serves on leadership and planning committees for the Anesthesiology section of the Society of Critical Care Medicine, the Society of Critical Care Anesthesiology, and the Society for the Advancement of Transplant Anesthesia.
