Jignesh H. Patel, PharmD., B.Sc., is an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy at Western University of Health Sciences, College of Pharmacy, in Pomona, California. He also serves as a Faculty-in-Residence in the Department of Medicine at Olive View-UCLA Medical Center.
Dr. Patel received his Baccalaureate of Science in pharmacy from Wayne State University in Detroit and Doctor of Pharmacy from Midwestern University, Chicago College of Pharmacy. He completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency at the Detroit Medical Center and a Clinical Pharmacy Translational Science Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship with an emphasis on Nephrology and Critical Care at the University of Michigan.
Dr. Patel practiced as a Burn Surgical Intensive Care Unit pharmacy specialist at Detroit Receiving Hospital and as a Trauma and Burn Surgical Intensive Care Unit pharmacist at the University of Rochester Medical Center, Strong Memorial Hospital (Rochester, NY). He joined the Western University of Health Sciences as faculty member in September 2019. His current research and teaching involve treatment of substance abuse in acute care setting, management of advanced liver diseases, pharmacokinetic alterations in critical illness and the impact of medication clearance in patients receiving renal replacement therapies.
