OSF St Francis Medical Center Children's Hospital of Illinois
Maureen E. Welty, DNP, CPNP-AC, is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse specializing in pediatric critical care and clinical education at OSF HealthCare in Peoria, Illinois. She serves as Clinical Coordinator of APP Clinical Education primarily serving the Pediatric Acute Care APP Fellowship, but assists with the NICU and Adult Critical Care tracks when needed.
Maureen earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Rush University (2018), sparking a passion for quality improvement. She lead a QI project for lab optmization in pediatric patients receiving Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation Therapy within the Children's Hospital of Illinois. She continues to work on quality improvement initiatives in the OSF APP Fellowship and clinical spaces.
In her educational role since 2022, she develops curricula, mentors DNP students, and facilitates learning across seven APP fellowship tracks. An accomplished researcher and presenter, she has co-investigated studies on septic shock, in-bed cycling, and lab reduction in ECMO patients, with publications in Critical Care Medicine and presentations at SCCM, SimOps, and Nexus Summit. Maureen has a passion for creative interprofessional collaboration across different modalities such as simulation, classroom learning, hands on application, Grand Rounds, etc.
Maureen has earned multiple honors, including APP Excellence Winner: Innovation (2024), Simulationist of the Year (2024), and APP Educator of the Year (2021, 2022). She remains active in community service through her church and coaching her children's sports.
