Jessica Tomasi, BASc, MHSc, MD, is a resident physician in Pediatrics at the University of Calgary and Alberta Children's Hospital in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
Jessica completed her undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Bioengineering, followed by a Master of Health Science in Clinical Engineering, both at the University of Toronto. During and after graduate studies, she conducted research in healthcare human factors across several hospitals in the Greater Toronto Area, including The Hospital for Sick Children.
Jessica went on to pursue her medical degree at Queen’s University and is currently a third-year Pediatrics resident at Alberta Children’s Hospital. Her current research builds on her background in human factors and systems design, focusing on the identification and mitigation of latent safety threats in Pediatric Intensive Care. The present work was designed and conducted in collaboration with Dr. Shelina Jamal (Pediatric Intensivist and ACH Medical Director for Quality and Safety) and Dr. Laurie Lee (PICU Nurse Practitioner and Director of the PICU Research Program).
