Dr. Tyler Weiss is the Director of Clinical Education and Assistant Professor in the Department of Cardiopulmonary Sciences at Rush University in Chicago. With over a decade of experience in both clinical practice and academic leadership, Dr. Weiss has made significant contributions to critical care, mechanical ventilation, and simulation-based education. He serves as Vice-Chair of the Airway Management Domain Task Force and faculty of the Mechanical Ventilation Domain Task Force for CHEST, where he is also recognized as a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians. Dr. Weiss has been honored with numerous awards, including being named the 2024 Adult Acute Care Specialty Practitioner of the Year by the American Association for Respiratory Care, a Distinguished CHEST Educator on multiple occasions, elected a Fellow of the American Association for Respiratory Care in 2025, and one of Chicago’s Notable Healthcare Heroes in 2020 for his efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic. His research and peer-reviewed publications span simulation education and critical care, with doctoral work focused on prone positioning and lung ultrasound. Dr. Weiss has been frequently invited to present his work and share his expertise on regional, national, and international platforms. He is passionate about advancing respiratory care through education, research, and mentorship.
