Dr. Nicole “Nikki” Adams, DO, is a third-year Pediatric Resident at Riley Children’s Hospital at Indiana University. Her research focuses on how social determinants of health (SDOH) and prehospital factors influence outcomes in pediatric diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA). Dr. Adams is passionate about addressing health disparities and advancing equitable, evidence-based care for all children.
Beyond her clinical and research endeavors, Dr. Adams serves as Chair of the Multicultural Physicians Alliance, where she leads initiatives to promote cultural humility and belonging within her institution. She is also an Association of Pediatric Program Directors (APPD) Advancing Inclusivity in Medical Education Scholars (AIMS) participant, through which she engages in national efforts to foster inclusive learning environments and mentorship in pediatrics. Additionally, Dr. Adams is leading the development of “Social Justice Rounds,” a residency-based curriculum designed to facilitate open dialogue on equity, bias, and advocacy in pediatric care.
Dr. Adams looks forward to starting her fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, where she aims to integrate her interests in SDOH, medical education, and health equity to improve outcomes for critically ill children.
