Sam Houser, OMS-II, is a medical student at Rowan–Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine, where he serves as the Vice President of the Class of 2028. His academic interests include thoracic surgery, critical care medicine, vascular pathology, and evidence-based approaches to complex clinical presentations. At the 2026 Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) Critical Care Congress, he will be presenting a project on pre-discharge decision-tree analyses predicting 30-day readmission risk for patients hospitalized with pneumonia, CHF, and COPD. This work was completed in collaboration with Dr. Slotman of the Inspira Health Network. In addition, he is involved in research on Iliac Vein Compression Syndrome with a focus on improving diagnostic accuracy and patient outcomes. Sam is passionate about advancing high-quality care in acute and emergent settings and is committed to pursuing a career in critical care and surgical medicine.
