Nationwide Children's Hospital, Ohio
I earned my medical degree from the University of Sonora in Mexico and completed my pediatrics residency at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Jacksonville, Florida. I am currently a Pediatric Critical Care Medicine fellow at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
My academic and research interests focus on neurocritical care and the immunologic response to critical illness. I am particularly interested in understanding the intersection between brain injury and systemic inflammation, as well as the mechanisms linking immune dysregulation to organ dysfunction in critically ill children.
During fellowship, I have been involved in projects examining biomarkers of inflammation and immune activation in pediatric traumatic brain injury, using a juvenile rat model, exploring pathways that may be relevant to critical illness. In addition, my quality improvement work focuses on increasing venous thromboembolism prophylaxis adherence in patients with severe traumatic brain injury.
Beyond research, I am committed to advancing medical education and fostering multidisciplinary collaboration in critical care. My long-term goal is to pursue an academic career integrating clinical care, research, and education to improve outcomes for critically ill children.
