New York
Hello! I’m Shwe Synn, and I’d like to share a bit about my journey as a second-year Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Fellow at Westchester Medical Center / New York Medical College. I teach pulmonary medicine to medical students at New York Medical College and provide engaging training through rapid code sessions and procedure simulations for residents at the New York Medical College Sim Center. It’s a rewarding experience.
My medical journey began at the University of Medicine (1) in Myanmar, followed by a fulfilling Internal Medicine residency at Montefiore Medical Center / Albert Einstein College of Medicine. I am grateful to my mentor, Dr. Majan Islam, for igniting my passion for critical care medicine during the COVID-19 pandemic—it's been an inspiring journey.
Having faced Dengue Hemorrhagic Shock as a post-ICU survivor at age 12, I bring a unique and heartfelt perspective to patient care. I am especially interested in post-ICU survivorship and developing structured post-ICU clinics to support patient recovery and ensure smooth continuity of care.
Additionally, I am passionate about the incredible potential of Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) to improve real-time clinical decision-making and positively influence patient outcomes. I look forward to expanding my knowledge in advanced hemodynamic assessments and advanced critical care echocardiography—crucial tools for optimizing ICU management.
