AI DuPont Hospital for Children, Delaware
Jigar Chauhan MBBS MD is a pediatric intensivist at Nemours Children's Hospital in Delaware. His primary area of research interest has been predict cardiac output based on carbon dioxide exchage using a ventilation approximate model. His initial work related to this field was on relationship between on Qp:Qs and EtCO2:PaCO2 in children with complex congenital heart disease, which he described as Alveolar functional fraction (AFF). Subsequently, he proposed a ventilation approximate model of calculation of cardiac output based on AFF (EtCO2: PaCO2), which was termed as functional Cardia Output (fCO). He has done initial work on fCO in animal model to show good relationship of fCO to CO. Now, he is presenting his work of validation of fCO in children.
