Puerto Rico
Greetings! My name is Joel E. Rivera Lebrón, and I am a driven and committed undergraduate student at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus, aspiring to become a medical professional, with a passion for integrating innovative research with compassionate patient care. I am enthusiastic about pursuing a medical career that fosters lifelong learning, interdisciplinary teamwork, and patient-centered advocacy.
I currently conduct clinical research at the Puerto Rico Medical Center, working in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) under the mentorship of Dr. Anabel Puig Ramos. Through this experience, I have gained exposure to pediatric critical care and have contributed to projects focused on improving clinical understanding and patient outcomes in high-acuity settings. I have also had the opportunity to present this research locally in Puerto Rico, an experience that strengthened my interest in academic medicine and collaborative scientific work.
My passion for medicine comes from a desire to bridge scientific inquiry with meaningful patient care. I am motivated by the potential of clinical research to create real-world impact and by the responsibility that future physicians carry in advocating for their patients and communities. Every step in my academic and research journey has reinforced my commitment to becoming a clinician who practices with empathy, curiosity, and excellence.
I am excited to participate in SCCM Critical Care Congress and look forward to learning from the distinguished physicians and health professionals who will be presenting. I hope to build connections, gain new insights, and continue growing as an aspiring medical professional ready to contribute to the future of health care.
