Dr. Asad Latif is a global health focused anesthesia intensivist and patient safety researcher who serves as Professor and Chair of Anaesthesiology at the Aga Khan University in Pakistan. A US-trained critical care physician, Dr. Latif is a pioneer in scaling tele-ICU networks and infection control programs across South Asia and the Middle East.
He has delivered invited talks on five continents, sharing insights on critical care safety, health systems transformation, and global surgical equity. As Director of AKU’s Centre for Patient Safety, a World Health Organziation Collaborating Center, he leads national-level initiatives that integrate telemedicine, digital innovation, and workforce training to improve outcomes in intensive care and perioperative settings.
Dr. Latif is a staunch advocate for applying implementation science to real-world challenges - from operating rooms to remote ICUs - and works on practical frameworks for making healthcare safer and more equitable worldwide.
