Lynn Munoz, BS, MD, MS (she/her/hers)

Lynn D. Muñoz, M.D., M.S., F.A.C.S., is Vice Chair of Surgery and Director of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at University of Michigan Health-Sparrow in Lansing, Michigan, and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at Michigan State University. She is a board-certified trauma and critical care surgeon with more than a decade of leadership experience in academic medicine, clinical program development, and surgical education.

Dr. Muñoz completed fellowships in Trauma and Acute Care Surgery and Surgical Critical Care at the University of Arizona after finishing her general surgery residency at Michigan State University. She also holds a Master of Science in Physiological Sciences from the University of Arizona and is currently pursuing an MBA at the University of Massachusetts Isenberg School of Management to further strengthen her leadership and executive management expertise. In her clinical and administrative roles, Dr. Muñoz has led numerous initiatives aimed at improving trauma systems, surgical education, and intensive care outcomes. She directs the Neuro Trauma ICU and the Surgical Critical Care Fellowship Program, where she mentors residents and fellows while developing competency-based curricula that integrate simulation training, evidence-based medicine, and structured feedback. Her leadership has helped advance trainee education and strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration across the trauma and critical care teams.

Dr. Muñoz has also spearheaded quality improvement initiatives focused on ICU delirium reduction, early mobility programs, and standardized trauma team leadership protocols. These efforts have resulted in measurable improvements in patient outcomes, communication, and efficiency during trauma activations. In addition to her institutional leadership roles, she participates in national trauma and surgical education initiatives through professional organizations and collaborative research.
