Dr. Biagas is Professor of Pediatrics at the Renaissance School of Medicine, Stony Brook University in New York. Dr. Biagas has been a practicing Pediatric Intensivist for over 30 years gaining national recognition for her expertise in the management of critically ill children, especially those with neurologic or cardiac diseases. She is a clinical researcher with an interest in critical illness and the developing brain. Her research focuses on the functional outcomes of children with critical illness. She is the Executive Chair of the Stony Brook University IRB and has served for nearly 20 years in IRBs at Columbia University and Stony Brook. Dr. Biagas is also Vice Chair for Faculty Affairs focusing on promotions and advancement of department faculty through leadership academies and faculty development. Finally, she is Chief of the Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Division at Stony Brook Children’s Hospital. Dr. Biagas serves on many local, regional, and national committees dedicated to the care of critically ill children. She serves in advisory and leadership positions on several national research groups.
