SCCM is celebrating its 55th year. Throughout its history, the Society has championed several guidelines that have resulted in improvements in how we care for patients. This session will review the impact of some of the biggest SCCM guidelines on patient care and the healthcare landscape. Speakers will also discuss some of the barriers to adopting new guidelines and offer strategies to overcome these barriers.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe the impact of the Surviving Sepsis Campaign guidelines on patient outcomes
  • Describe the impact of the pain, agitation/sedation, delirium, immobility, and sleep disruption guidelines on patient outcomes
  • Describe the impact of the pediatric nutrition guidelines on patient outcomes
  • Discuss the implementation of guidelines into practice, including overcoming obstacles and inertia
