Timely access to critical care can mean the difference between life and death for patients with complex, rapidly evolving conditions. Speakers will explore the origins and evolution of the critical care resuscitation unit (CCRU) and similar units, which were designed to bridge gaps in care delivery and expedite transfers for critically ill patients. Attendees will gain insight into the clinical challenges that prompted the creation of CCRUs, examine the measurable benefits they provide to patients and healthcare institutions, and explore the barriers and future directions that will shape their continued development.
