Stephen Brannan MD is a board-certified anesthesiologist practicing at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. He completed two fellowships in critical care and cardiothoracic anesthesiology and thus is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiologists in Critical Care Medicine and Cardiac Anesthesiology, and he is also board certified by the Natioanl Board of Echocardiography in Advanced Perioperative Transesophageal echocardiography. He is a Testamur of the National Board of Echocardiography's Critical Care Echocardiography examination. He splits his time among the operating room in the thoracic, vascular, and general operating rooms, the cardiac surgery operating rooms and cath lab, and the intensive care unit. His academic interests include pioneering a comprehensive point of care ultrasound course for residents, fellows, and faculty in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He is the Director of the department's Perioperative Echocardiography service as well as POCUS education.
