Emily Berkman, MD MA, is pediatric critical care physician and pediatric bioethicist at the University of Washington School of Medicine/Seattle Children's Hospital. She completed her MD at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. She did her pediatric residency at the University of Washington. After a year as a PICU hospitalist at Seattle Children's, she entered into and completed Pediatric Critical Care Fellowship at the University of Washington. She also completed a concomitant Pediatric Bioethics Fellowship at the Treuman Katz Center for Pediatric Bioethics and obtained her MA in Bioethics at the University of Washington. Her area of focus is on organizational ethics and resource allocation. She is the associate director of organizationl ethics and remains interested in thinking through how scarce resources can be allocated in an ethical and equitable fashion.
