Richard Stahl’s career has included roles as clinician in both academic and private practice, physician executive in both hospital and medical school settings, and venture capital adviser. He is now Emeritus Professor (Medical Sciences) at Quinnipiac University’s (QU) Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine, having helped found the School as its inaugural Senior Associate Dean for Strategic Relations for ten years. He came to QU from Yale New Haven Health, where he served in a twenty year progression of executive roles including positions as Vice President responsible for both inpatient and outpatient facilities--including formation of the Ambulatory Services Division, Associate Chief Medical Officer, and Associate Chief of Surgery. He was previously Associate Professor and then Clinical Professor (Surgery) at the Yale School of Medicine and Lecturer (Health Care Policy and Management) at the Yale School of Public Health. Rick has been a limited partner of New Haven-based Elm Street Ventures since 2006 and a venture partner since 2016. Dr. Stahl is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American College of Healthcare Executives, and is board certified in both General Surgery and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He has a B.A. in physics from Emory, an M.D., from Vanderbilt, and an M.B.A., from the University of New Haven. His medical residencies in general surgery and plastic and reconstructive surgery were served at Yale-New Haven Hospital and Emory University Hospitals, respectively. He served as Chief Resident in both training programs.
