K Sarah Hoehn, MD, MBe, is board certified in pediatric critical care medicine, pediatrics, and pediatric hospice and palliative medicine. Currently she is the Chief Medical Officer of LaRabida Children's Hospital. She is advocate in addressing the social determinants of health that impact critical illness recovery, especially the impact of food insecurity on recovery. Her passion is addressing moral distress and moral injury at all stages of training, and supporting everyone in the multi disciplinary team. Her research interests include studying the impact of standard triggers for palliative care consultation, addressing health care disparities in palliative care and studying burnout among trainees and attending. She is involved in addressing food insecurity at a local level, by managing a community fridge. Her passion is to encourage patients, families and health care workers to find peace amidst difficult circumstances. Specifically, she tries to incorporate "what brings you joy today?" to patients, their families and all health care workers.
