Michael Vidal, MD is a third-year Internal Medicine resident at Northeast Georgia Health System. He is a Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine fellowship candidate with a strong clinical and academic interest in advanced cardiac devices and the management of cardiogenic shock.
During residency, Dr. Vidal has developed a particular passion for the care of critically ill patients requiring mechanical circulatory support, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, and multidisciplinary management in the cardiac intensive care unit. He is especially interested in the physiologic principles underlying cardiogenic shock and the evolving role of temporary and durable mechanical support devices in acute and chronic heart failure.
Dr. Vidal’s clinical interests extend to the intersection of cardiology and critical care, including shock phenotyping, ventilatory management in cardiac patients, and the integration of advanced therapies such as ECMO, Impella, and other circulatory support strategies into bedside decision-making. He values team-based care and is drawn to environments that emphasize both high-acuity clinical management and trainee education.
He plans to pursue a career in academic pulmonary and critical care medicine, with the goal of contributing to clinical education, quality improvement, and research focused on advanced cardiac critical care and outcomes in patients with cardiogenic shock.
