Chanu Rhee, MD, MPH, FCCM, FIDSA, FSHEA is an Associate Professor of Population Medicine and Medicine at Harvard Medical School, Director of the Center for Sepsis Epidemiology and Prevention Studies (SEPSIS) at the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Institute, Medical Director of Infection Control at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and a practicing infectious disease and critical care physician. He is internationally recognized for his expertise in the epidemiology, surveillance, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of sepsis and infections in critically ill patients. His clinical and research interests also encompass infection prevention and hospital epidemiology, antimicrobial resistance and stewardship, and infections in immunocompromised hosts. Dr. Rhee has been continuously federally funded for over a decade through grants from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. He has published more than 200 articles, many leveraging large local and national electronic health record datasets to advance clinical care, research, quality improvement, and health policy related to sepsis and infection management. In addition to his research, he has been a leader in sepsis quality improvement initiatives across the Mass General Brigham health system and has served on multiple national committees dedicated to improving sepsis outcomes. He is an Associate Editor for Clinical Infectious Diseases and serves on the editorial boards of Critical Care Medicine and Critical Care Explorations.
