I am a faculty researcher at the University Centre for Health Sciences (CUCS) of the University of Guadalajara (UdeG), where I teach Evidence-Based Medicine in the undergraduate medical program and Clinical Respiratory Therapy in the respiratory therapy technician program. I also serve as an attending physician in the Intensive Care Unit at the Civil Hospital of Guadalajara (HCG), Dr. Juan I. Menchaca (JIM), where I am responsible for the unit’s educational activities. In addition, I am a research assistant in the Department of Health Research Methods, Evidence, and Impact at McMaster University (Canada).
My research interests focus on the various research methods and data analysis approaches used in the health sciences, with particular emphasis on the design of both experimental and observational studies, the development of clinical practice guidelines, and evidence synthesis (e.g., systematic reviews). I also serve as a thesis advisor for the Internal Medicine program at HCG JIM and for the Critical Care Medicine program at HCG FAA.
