Dr Areeba Zainab Makhdoom,MD is a second year Pediatric Critical Care Fellow at University of Texas in Houston. Originally from Pakistan, she went to Aga Khan University for medical school, folllowing which she did her general pediatrics residency at University of Texas Medical Branch.
She has a strong interest in global health with a particular focus on improving access to critical care services in low resource settings. In 2023 she received a grant from the US Department of State to build a learning center in rural Pakistan, now nearing completion. The center is envisioned as not only an educational institute for local chlildren, but also as a community hub for health capacity-building.
