Gina Sofía Montaño Padilla, MD. Intensivist at Fundación Clínica Shaio and Clínica Universidad de La Sabana, Colombia.

I am Colombian physician specialized in Critical Care and Intensive Medicine, deeply committed to both clinical practice and medical education. Born in Bogotá in 1996, I earned my medical degree at Universidad de La Sabana in 2017 and completed my specialization in Critical Care and Intensive Medicine in 2022. I finished master’s degree in Medical Education, which reflects my dedication to advancing teaching and curriculum design alongside patient care.
My professional experience includes serving as an Intensivist at Fundación Clínica Shaio and Clínica Universidad de La Sabana, where I also teach in the Department of Internal Medicine. I have developed expertise in extracorporeal life support and advanced critical care, supported by certifications in ECMO, mechanical ventilation, translational science, and advanced life support.
I have actively contributed to scientific research and presented at national and international congresses across Latin America. My work has addressed obesity, metabolic disorders, infectious diseases, and critical care interventions. I have authored multiple peer reviewed publications, including studies on diabetes management, COVID 19 outcomes in Latin America, thromboprophylaxis during pregnancy, and the predictive validity of the ROX index. These contributions demonstrate my commitment to evidence based practice and improving patient outcomes.
Throughout my academic journey, I have been recognized with honors such as “Best Intern” and repeated distinctions as a “Distinguished Student.” I value discipline, leadership, and collaboration, qualities that guide my work with multidisciplinary teams and my mentorship of students. Outside of medicine, I enjoy traveling, athletics, swimming, and equestrian sports, which provide balance and enrich my personal life.
