UT MD Anderson Cancer Center
Steven H. Hsu, M.D., Associate Professor, Department of Critical Care Medicine, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
ICU physician specializing in the care of critically ill patients with cancer and complex multisystem disease. My clinical and academic work focuses on improving outcomes in the oncology ICU through pragmatic quality improvement, implementation of evidence-based practices, and interdisciplinary culture change, with particular emphasis on early mobility and rehabilitation to reduce complications of immobility and support functional recovery during critical illness. I also participate in data-driven approaches to clinical prediction and decision support, leveraging time-series physiologic data and unstructured clinical notes to anticipate deterioration such as sepsis and septic shock and to enable more timely, patient-centered management. I am committed to education and mentorship of trainees and multidisciplinary teams through structured teaching and scholarly development in medicine and critical care.
