Dr. Karen A. Korzick, MD, MA, FCCP, FACP, FCCM, served as the Co-chairperson for the SCCM workgroup that developed the Society of Critical Care Medicine Clinical Practice Guidelines on Adult End-of-Life Care in the ICU, published in December 2025. She is a Professor of Critical Care Medicine at Geisinger College of Health Sciences, and has practiced full time critical care medicine for 29 years in both teaching and non-teaching environment ICUs in urban and rural communities. She has a career long interest in biomedical ethics and the compassionate delivery of end-of-life care in the adult ICU, and has served on the ethics committees of several health organizations as well as teaching topics in biomedical ethics throughout her career. Dr. Korzick has been the Critical Care Medicine Fellowship Program Director at Geisinger Medical Center for 12 years, and served on the ACGME Milestones 2.0 work group for Pulmonary Critical Care Medicine. Her current research interest is ICU survivor care process and outcomes improvement.
