Texas Childrens Hospital
Lauren is a seasoned nurse practitioner with nearly 30 years of health care experience, including 19 years at the bedside and 11 years in advanced practice. She currently specializes in the critical care of adults with congenital heart disease, with a focus on ICU and hospitalist care for this complex population. In January 2021, she helped open the Adult Congenital Heart Unit at Texas Childrens Hospital in Houston, Texas. Over the past 5 years, Lauren has combined clinical excellence with a passion for improving transitions of care for ACHD patients, presenting her work at international conferences.
In addition to her clinical expertise, Lauren is an advocate for professional development and wellness in health care. She has presented on imposter syndrome in health care, helping providers recognize and overcome barriers to confidence and leadership. She also served as president of the Houston Area Nurse Practitioners, where she promoted networking, education, and advocacy for advanced practice nurses across the region. She also served as a professor for the acute care nurse practioner program at Texas Womans University and enjoys mentoring.
Known for her collaborative approach, engaging presentation style, and ability to connect across disciplines, Lauren is committed to advancing multidisciplinary excellence in high-acuity cardiac care. Her career reflects a dedication not only to patients but also to supporting colleagues and shaping the future of advanced practice nursing.
