Joseph L. Nates, MD MBA CMQ MCCM, Deputy Chair of the Critical Care Department, Division of Anesthesiology and Critical Care, Medical Director of the Oncologic Intensive Care Units (SICU and MICU) of The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. President of the Oncologic Critical Care Research Network (ONCCC-R-NET); President of the Global Oncologic Critical Care Society (GSOCC). He is the Scientific Director of the Iberic and Pan American Federation of Critical Care Societies (FEPIMCTI) and member of the FEPIMCTI Council. He is also Editor of "Oncologic Critical Care" textbook, the first comprehensive treatise on the subject in English, and "Oncología Crítica", and the first comprehensive textbook about the subject in Spanish. Dr. Nates led the first and several subsequent international oncologic critical care symposiums in the country and abroad. Dr. Nates is considered a pioneer in the field of oncologic critical care.
