Dr. Kristie Hertel DNP, CCRN, ACNP-BC, FCCM is an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner with the Trauma and Surgical Critical Care Department at ECU Health Medical Center, a Level 1 tertiary care center, located in Eastern North Carolina. In addition, she is an Assistant Clinical Professor and Concentration Director for the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. She has been a nurse for 33 years and a nurse practitioner for the last 19 years. Kristie has been a member of SCCM since 2007. She is Past-President for the Carolinas Virginias Chapter, Chair of the Fundamentals of Critical Care Support (FCCS) committee, Chair of the Fundamentals Leadership Committee, a member of the SCCM Program Planning Committee, and a former Chair of the SCCM Nursing Section. Kristie has had multiple national, regional, and local presentations on trauma, shock, sepsis, end of life, and nursing care of the critically ill and injured.
