Dr. Ndidi Musa is a physician leader, board-certified Pediatric Cardiac Intensivist, and Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Washington, with more than 30 years of experience spanning pediatric cardiac critical care, academic medicine, leadership development, and global health. She practices clinically at Seattle Children’s Hospital, where she has held leadership roles influencing clinical excellence, education, and organizational culture.
Internationally recognized for her contributions to pediatric cardiac intensive care, Dr. Musa has played a key role in advancing pediatric cardiac critical care practice and education. She is an award-winning educator who has developed curricula in cardiovascular physiology, served as course director for medical student and fellowship programs, and continues to teach fellows, nurse practitioners, and multidisciplinary teams.
A global health leader and TEDx speaker, Dr. Musa has worked to build critical care capacity across Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she strengthened a pediatric cardiac program in Nigeria by convening international multidisciplinary case conferences, contributing to improved surgical outcomes and reduced mortality. She has authored peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and serves as an Associate Editor for Frontiers in Pediatrics and Frontiers in Intensive Care Medicine.
Dr. Musa has served on the boards of major professional organizations, including the World Federation of Pediatric Intensive and Critical Care Societies and the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Society. At Seattle Children’s Hospital, she serves on the Leadership Council and chairs the Committee for Professional Enhancement.
In addition to her clinical and academic leadership, Dr. Musa is a certified executive coach, trained through the Hudson Institute and the Maxwell Leadership Program. She directs the Department of Pediatrics Internal Coaching Program at the University of Washington and serves as Medical Director of the Physician Peer Coaching Program at Seattle Children’s Hospital, advancing leadership capacity, physician well-being, and equitable care worldwide.
